Planning & Coordination

Planner vs. Day-Of Coordinator: What’s the Difference?

Planning your wedding can feel like a lot—so it helps to know what kind of support suits you best. Whether you want full planning help or someone to run the show on the day, here's how these roles differ:

Timing — A planner works with you from the very beginning—months (or even a year) before your wedding. A day-of coordinator steps in closer to your date, focusing mainly on final details and day-of execution.

Creative & Design HelpPlanners help define your wedding aesthetic, create layouts, and guide décor choices. Coordinators typically work with the design already set, ensuring your vision comes to life smoothly.

Vendor SupportPlanners help you choose vendors, manage bookings, and keep communication flowing. Coordinators confirm the details and make sure everyone shows up and knows what to do.

Planning & Timeline — Planners build timelines, floor plans, and manage your budget. Coordinators run with your timeline and keep things moving smoothly on the big day.

Day-Of Duties —  Both help make sure your day goes off without a hitch! Coordinators greet vendors, manage the timeline, answer questions, and handle hiccups—so you don’t have to. |

At Lavender Owl Farm, weddings with over 50 guests do require a coordinator—but how much help you want beyond that is totally up to you. We’re here to support your planning journey, whether it’s full-service or just day-of magic.
